Saint Felix Pupil Netball Success

Saint Felix pupil, Ellie Peel, has been selected for the East of England Regional Netball Academy.

The Lower V pupil at Saint Felix School in Southwold is already a member of the County Satellite Academy and will now go forward for training to play for the region.
Ellie, who lives in Huntingfield near Halesworth in Suffolk, was selected by England Netball talent spotters for the U15 squad despite being only 13, while playing for the Suffolk side in a tournament against Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and Norfolk teams.

Coach Sue Bailey, of Suffolk Netball said: “Ellie was one of three Suffolk players identified by the scouts. I’m really pleased for her”.

The Suffolk Netball Satellite Academy is a squad of pupils selected by county coaches which feeds players through to the U15 county team. The Regional Academy is part of the England Netball Excel Pathway coaching scheme seeking England Netball players of the future.

Ellie, who is captain of the Saint Felix U14 side and vice captain of the U15 side, said: “I am really pleased to have been offered such a great opportunity. I’m lucky because I began playing netball very early when we lived in Australia so I had a head start, and I have had a lot of encouragement at school from all the netball teachers and the rest of the U15 team. They are a fantastic team and I am learning a lot from them.”
