Pupils raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support

Generous pupils from Saint Felix School, Southwold, raise over £1,200 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The twelve students, along with three members of staff from the school, completed a sponsored cycle ride from Southwold to Lowestoft and back, using as few main roads as possible. Along the way, the group stopped for a bacon-roll cooked on a gas stove in a Pakefield beach hut, belonging to one of the children’s parents.

Andrew Jenkins, Director of Music at Saint Felix, organised the event: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount we have raised. Everyone has been so enthusiastic about the cycle ride – we all had a great time, although we paid for it physically the next day! Well done to all the pupils and staff involved.”

Luke Wheeler, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said:  “The effort everyone put into raising this money is incredible. It’s a great achievement and we are truly grateful for the support of Saint Felix School.

“Every year  3,400 people in Suffolk will be told they have cancer. Macmillan is here for these people. £1,207 is a fantastic amount of money and could pay for a Macmillan nurse for well over a week, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.”
