Saint Felix School - Learning for Life

Welcome from the Headmaster

Letman_Simon_photo welcome page

Everyone who visits Saint Felix tends to comment on the warm, friendly, relaxed, family atmosphere here. On another level, they also discern a real sense of purpose, where pupils are motivated and ambitious. They see that this is a school where we try to make sure that everybody can be somebody.

We are committed to equipping pupils with the flexible skills and attitudes they will need to cope with the challenges of our fast changing modern world. One of the problems we face as educators today is that most of the challenges young people will have to confront in the future are actually unknown and probably unpredictable at the moment.

This means that in addition to concentrating on achieving the best possible academic results, we need to work on developing qualities like resourcefulness, resilience, flexibility and persistence, and this is what makes what we do here so distinctive and relevant to both the present and the future.

In short, our pupils ‘learn for life’. The school motto ‘Felix quia fortis’, ‘happiness through strength’, is as relevant today as it was when the school was founded in 1897. I see my role as ensuring that boys and girls at Saint Felix will be happy, successful and fulfilled whilst they are here and that they are endowed with the strength of character to meet the many exciting challenges which our changing world will throw at them in the future.

I look forward to meeting you.
