From the very beginning of their education at Saint Felix, all pupils are encouraged to develop a positive attitude towards mathematics.

 

 

 

Much emphasis is placed on the early concepts of mathematics and focuses on the mastery of the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. In addition to this, mental arithmetic, problem solving and times tables are also integral to the curriculum.

Children are exposed to the full range of the Numeracy Curriculum which involves fractions, decimals, money, percentages, averages, shape and measure and data handling.

'New Heinemann Maths' is the foundation scheme used throughout the Junior School and is supplemented with a variety of other work where appropriate.

 

 

 

Through differentiation in the classroom and careful planning, we are able to support pupils and extend those who are gifted mathematically.  We aim to give all our pupils an exciting and challenging experience of mathematics.
