Drama
Drama is a demanding, disciplined and exciting subject which explores a range of themes in a creative and imaginative way.
Drama is a practical subject that will develop pupil’s ability to work in a group, creatively structure ideas, present these confidently using a range of dramatic skills and evaluate their own work and that of others. All the skills taught are essential to success in every walk of life and support the school’s ‘Learning for Life’ mission.
Drama is a discreet subject taught across KS3 and is available as an examination subject at GCSE, AS and A level. Facilities in the school are good with the Silcox Theatre being used both as a performance venue and teaching space.
Productions
Our aim is to give every pupil in the school the opportunity to be involved in drama productions, whether developing skills in acting, design and stage management or technical areas like sound and lighting. Recent senior productions have included “We Will Rock You”, “Grease” and we are presently rehearsing for “Return to the Forbidden Planet”. The Lower School performance last year was “The Incredible Vanishing” and this year is “ The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents”.
