Saint Felix PTA has this week announced its latest grants to school projects for the children, amounting to more than £4,000. This brings to an astonishing £8,666 the amount granted over the last four terms.
The most recent grants include £400 for a new lighting board for the Silcox Theatre, £400 for telescopes in the Senior School, over £500 for football strips plus money for PE and swimming equipment for Bronte and Clough.
The Parent Teacher Association, formerly known as The Friends of Saint Felix, holds events throughout the year to raise funds, including the Christmas and the Summer Fayres, the Summer Ball, Quiz Night and others. Funds are also raised through the school shop although currently much of this is ploughed back into stock, keeping uniform prices competitive and paying for sports strips.
In the last fourteen months other grants have included £500 for a printing press for the Art Department, £177 for microscopes in the Junior School and £200 for scooters for Bronte. A full list of awards is printed below.
Wietske Hendriksen, Chairman of the PTA said : “We’ve always known that the PTA is good at raising funds for the school, but it was not until we started adding up these amounts that we realised how much was actually raised over the past year. This is a fantastic result!â€
Â
Headmaster David Ward added :  “ I am delighted so many clubs, activities, social events and trips are supported and funded by the PTA enabling staff to offer an enhance and broad curriculum.â€
The PTA is always looking for new committee members both to help organise events to raise funds for projects such as these, and to have a say in the running of their child’s school. If you would like to join please contact Wietske or any other committee member via the contacts page of the PTA’s webpages on the school website.
