The Senior School

Lower IV - Lower V (Years 7-9 Key Stage 3) All pupils study the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, French, Spanish, Geography, History, Art, Design, Home Economics, Information & Computer Technology, Drama, Music, Physical Education, Health Education and Citizenship.
The courses above are based on the National Curriculum. EFL or Enhanced Learning lessons may be substituted for the second foreign language as required. Pupils in Lower V (Year 9) are also offered the opportunity to learn Latin.
Middle V & Upper V (Years 10-11 Key Stage 4) During the Lower V year (Year 9) pupils make their GCSE subject choices after discussions with their tutors, parents, teachers and Careers staff. The aim is to provide each individual with a balanced course of study which will leave future options open but at the same time lay firm foundations for successful specialisation later.
All pupils will study the following Core subjects: English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (2 GCSEs) and usually a foreign language. Health Education, Citizenship, Information & Computer Technology, Physical Education and Careers are also included in the core curriculum. In addition to the 6 Core examination subjects up to four additional subjects from the following list may be chosen: Additional Science, Art, Business Studies, Applied Business Studies, Design, Drama, Geography, History, I.C.T., Latin, a second Modern Language, Music, Photography and Physical Education.
