What's On

The newly-formed Folk Band, 'The Surfing Crickets', opened our Musical Matinee on Friday 13th March in the Silcox Theatre.  Playing a couple of Northumbrian traditional jigs,  staff and pupils on pipes, flutes, fiddles and accordion set a very high standard of performance in this their first gig.  Along with three of our music scholars participating in the short concert, there were solos, ranging from Brahms' St Anthony Chorale played on the cello and Jinzi's 5th Bagatelle for clarinet to the Head of Choir, Zac Chandler, singing, "The Roadside Fire" by Vaughan Williams and the Head Girl, Rachael Keeble, singing a Negro Spiritual 'Sometimes I see a motherless child'.  The Rock Band brought the afternoon to an enjoyable close by playing the audience out to 'In the Middle'.
