On Friday,5th June, twenty-two golfers of assorted abilities, played nine holes in the annual Parents’ versus Staff golf challenge at Southwold Golf Club. Dry weather, combined with local knowledge led to some excellent scoring on the day. Given the increased numbers of the last two years, we now have individual prizes for three different handicap categories. The results were as follows (stableford points):-

With regards to the staff versus parents challenge, we compare the five best scores against one another and yet again the parents luckily prevailed by a margin of 4-1!
Highlights of the afternoon were:
• James Gauld (our gap student), having borrowed some nice Callaway clubs from another gap student, hit a shot from the centre of the fairway and the head of the club detached itself from the shaft!
• A parent (who shall remain nameless), is alleged to have lost twelve balls in only a nine hole competition?!
After the golf, the players enjoyed a delightful ‘whale’ and chips supper in the clubhouse, followed by an ale or two to wash it down with. We look forward to giving the parents more of a challenge next year.
