Dutch Exchange - May 2009 |
|
Â
A party of 21 Dutch students arrived at Saint Felix on Monday 11th May for the third exchange between the two schools. On a wild and windy Tuesday Mr McLean took them on a tour of Southwold’s coastal defences or lack of them, and the students attended lessons in school with their English partners. A tour of the dungeons and battlements at Norwich Castle proved popular, and the Chapel service on Thursday morning gave the Dutch students a particularly English experience. Bowling in Lowestoft was a great opportunity to socialise and consume many chips, and the realisation that we have much improving to do if we are to score as highly as the Dutch students.
We look forward to visiting Goes by way of the ferry and the Dutch railway network. The children are particularly keen on the cycling tour of the area, where we will complete the return by steam train. A day visiting Rotterdam and Delft should enable the pupils to see contrasting aspects of the country, and will show them a very different approach towards defending the coast.
