Norfolk Book Centre to Visit Saint Felix - 28th September 2009

I am delighted to inform you that Marilyn Brocklehurst of the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre will be coming to spend the day at Saint Felix on Monday 28th September. She is an expert on children’s literature and will be giving talks to pupils from LIV to MV.  The Book Centre is highly regarded in literary circles and in recognition of the range and excellence of services offered by the Book Centre the judges of The Bookseller Retail Awards made it the winner of the Children’s Independent category in 2007. Marilyn Brocklehurst will enthuse about reading on Monday and I can assure you that your son or daughter will want to buy some of the books she will be talking about.

We are very lucky to benefit form her wide knowledge as she is always busy and gives talks throughout East Anglia. She will give us her invaluable advice free of charge and will bring a large supply of books to Saint Felix. I very much hope that you will be able to support us in this venture by giving your children some money to spend on this occasion. Marilyn will be able to talk about the latest releases as she always reads proof copies before they are available in the shops. She will also give the school commission based total sales and this is a good way of improving our library stock.

Marilyn will accept cash or cheques made payable to ‘Norfolk Children’s Book Centre’, which you could leave open, or for a maximum amount with some change to cover any extra. She usually brings credit facilities with her and so you are warmly invited to come yourselves and browse the books from 3.45-5.00pm. I very much hope that you will give your children some money to spend on this day as this is a rare opportunity for them to have such expert advice. Marilyn really does know about all children’s books!! A minimum of £7 should be enough to buy at least one book, but of course if your child is a keen reader you might like to be a little more generous.  Be assured that Marilyn will only advise on the best reading material.

I believe that one good book can lead to a life full of the joy of reading, so please make certain that your son/daughter can buy a treat on Monday 28th.  It will not be possible to put these purchases on the school bill and I will communicate with the house staff to organise for the boarders to have access to some pocket money.

Thank you for your support in our venture. You will use your money wisely on this occasion.
