Year Nine Netball Tournament - October 2009 |
|
Saint Felix School’s Year nine girls recently enjoyed an afternoon of netball alongside nine other local school teams on their home turf.
In the first pool stage, the home side did exceptionally well finishing second in their group therefore qualifying for the semi finals. As the tournament continued the Saint Felix team beat Kirkley High School 9-0, Benjamin Britten High School 2-0 and Bungay High School 8-0.
It was an all Saint Felix semi-final when the year nines met the year eight side, who worked their way to get into the semi finals gaining invaluable experience along the way. The Year 9s felt the pressure and only just scraped into the final.
Framlingham College dominated in a 7-2 victory in the final but both teams go through to the Suffolk regional competition final in mid-November. The home side’s Adey Farthing was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ for her versatility and sporting attitude.
Georgina Kingstone, PE teacher at Saint Felix, organised the event: “It was an action packed afternoon of netball which gave over 80 girls an opportunity to gain some invaluable match play experience. Everyone did really well and obviously enjoyed the day.”
