Sole Bay Strings visit Junior School - November 2009 |
|
Pupils at Saint Felix School were treated to a musical performance recently, when the Sole Bay Strings came to perform in their Junior School hall.
The local string quartet played classical music, along with their unique renditions of music from Star Wars and Ben E. King’s classic, Stand By Me. Some of the members of the group teach music lessons at the school, so it was a chance for the children to hear the talents of staff members on display.
Headmistress of Saint Felix’s Junior School, Julia Campbell, said the children had thoroughly enjoyed the experience: “The pupils were completely enthralled, and it was the most fantastic opportunity for them to hear live music played at such a high standard. They all listened intently and it was obvious they enjoyed every second."
“The performance was inspirational to our pupils who already play stringed instruments, and it has also encouraged a few who don’t already play to take up the violin or cello.”
