London Visit - February 2010

On the 31st January, fourteen of the younger boarders went to London with Mr and Mrs O’Connell and Hayley, the Australian gap student.  After a long journey we finally got to London! First we walked to the Natural History Museum.  We looked at all of the exhibits, they were really interesting and we learnt a lot.  After the girls had finished posing with the polar bears we went to say hello to the dinosaur!  After a great time at the museum, we headed towards Buckingham Palace! We saw that the flag was up and tried to do some Queen spotting, we didn’t see her though.  The palace was very beautiful and big.  Afterwards we walked to Horseguards and saw the guards’ changing and inspection ceremony, we stood there watching them.  We found it really funny watching them march, shout and stamp their feet; they didn’t smile though!

Later on we made our way to the London eye.  Before we got on we watched a short 3D film explaining to us about the London eye, it was brilliant.  It showed us many photos and film clips in day and night, everything popped out of the screen, including a sea gull that pooed on us and a man blowing fire at us.  Laura and Mr O’Connell timed our routine perfectly, so we could go on the eye and see London in daylight on the way up and London in darkness on the way down, with a beautiful sunset at the top!

We took plenty of fab photos, especially of the sunset and ourselves.  To end a great day we went to McDonalds whilst Mr O’Connell went back across London to collect the bus. Yummy! Thank you to Mr O’Connell, Laura and Hayley for a great day out!
