1st XI Hockey - March 2010 |
|
The Saint Felix 1st XI girls' hockey team faced Thomas Mills on Tuesday, 9th March in a fixture on home ground. It was a well-matched fixture with a number of club players on both teams. Thomas Mills managed to sneak in an early goal, a score line which remained for the rest of the match. Saint Felix's movement of the ball from the left to right hand side of the pitch was much improved, as was communication between team mates. With an injured Chloe Stewart on the side lines, Saint Felix’s leading goal scorer, the team missed the attacking power up front. Player of the match was Sophie Whyte who demonstrated a one hundred percent improved performance since their last match the previous week and a committed attitude to gain and hold possession. Emily Robbins also deserves a mention for her speed and dedication on the pitch, and she was instrumental to the Saint Felix's team success.
Tim O'Connell, coach of the 1st XI commented, "It was a strong team performance. Despite lacking a victory the squad should be proud of their movement on and off the ball. They looked from the side lines to be more organised and knowledgeable on when to press the opposition and how to effectively mark Thomas Mills' more talented players".
