1st XI Rounders v Ipswich High - 27th April 2010 |
|
Tuesday 27th April saw the Saint Felix 1st XI Rounders team head to Ipswich High School for their first match of the season.
Their opponents demonstrated how to strike the ball deep into the field and gave a stronger batting performance in both innings. Top scorer Emily Robbins (3 rounders) illustrated the importance of speed, running assertively around the pitch hoping to score off every ball. In the field Saint Felix held their own.
Imogen Wiltshire was a reliable post fielder whilst Chanielle A-Stewart an impressive over arm throw. In the second innings the team trailed by just two and a half rounders and finished the game having learnt the importance of changing the fielding tactically in response to their opponents.
Director of Sport at Saint Felix, Georgina Kingstone, commented: “Although we didn’t get the result we set out to get today, we have learnt some valuable lessons and will use these to improve next week.”
