Athletic Ambition

Saint Felix School competed in the English Schools Athletic Schools Cup at West Suffolk Arena, Bury St. Edmunds.  King Edward VI, Westley Middle, Deben High School, Amberfield, Kesgrave High School, Stowmarket High School and Woodbridge all joined Saint Felix for a busy day of athletic events.

Their best team results for a number of years, Saint Felix fielded a strong and healthy squad of just over 50 pupils from Years 7-10.  For the junior boys and girls, who both finished second, noteable performances included first placed by Chris Jackson in the high jump, Tom Sigsworth in the long jump, Tom Woodruff in the triple jump, Alex Farrands in the shot putt, Matt Sutton in the Javelin and Olivia Reeves in the long jump.  Alice Ward and Stanley Collins also gave creditable performances in the long distance 1500m races.  For the inter age group, Tom Heal dominated.  He came first in the 800m timing his break from the pack perfectly and first in the high jump.  Jack Barlett also excelled coming a close second in the 200m.

Tim O’Connell, PE teacher at Saint Felix, commented: “The effort and enthusiasm shown by all Saint Felix pupils who took part was terrific. Everyone put on brilliant performances and should be very proud of their achievements.”
