Wonder throw wins Wickham a place in the nationals.
Saint Felix School were amongst 48 schools who participated in the east area prep schools athletics competition held at Bedford International Stadium on Thursday 10th June.
Only those athletes who gained qualifying distances and times were permitted to participate on Thursday, therefore standards were high and talent evident throughout the stadium.
Bobby Wickham, one of Saint Felix's top athletes won his event, the U14 javelin. He therefore moves on to represent his school in the national competition on the 5th July in Birmingham.
Not only did he gain a first place, but he won comfortably with a throw over eight meters further than all other competitors. Matthew Sutton narrowly missed out in joining Bobby at the nationals coming third in the javelin and fourth in the high jump.
Bobby said:”I’ll now focus on my training for the nationals where I hope my hard work will pay off.”
